Night Train

The 3.5 minute animation uses Oscar Peterson’s last trip to Japan as structure, and his version of ‘C-Jam Blues’ as soundtrack to animate some 670 golf driving ranges in and around the cities of Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, and Fukuoka as seen at night by the countless satellites that look down at us. This meditation on the unlikely combination of golf and jazz, two of Japan’s great passions, is intended to reveal the unexpected beauty and endless variety of the more than 10,000 driving ranges, Japan’s unique contribution to the game of golf.
